LUUK, Sulu — The 1102nd Infantry “Ganarul” Brigade has reinforced its security strategies in Eastern Sulu through a series of command visits to the Civilian Active Auxiliary (CAA) units of the 21st Infantry “Invincible” Battalion in the municipalities of Panamao, Panglima Estino, and Kalingalan Caluang.

Brig. Gen. Alaric Avelino Delos Santos, commander of the 1102nd Brigade, said the visits aimed to bolster situational awareness, strengthen command supervision, and boost the morale and operational readiness of CAA personnel manning critical frontline positions in Sulu’s 2nd District.

He was accompanied by key brigade leaders, including Col. Alex Gagula, deputy brigade commander; Col. Edmond Lanzar, brigade executive officer; Lt. Col. Ronald Borras, commanding officer of 21IB; Capt. Kesley Jon Rey Maligro, brigade operations officer; 1Lt. Hazel Calina, brigade CMO officer; and TSg. Luisito Leones, brigade sergeant major.

During the visits, Brig. Gen. Delos Santos personally assessed security postures, defensive works, troop disposition, and living conditions at the CAA detachments.

Addressing the troops, he emphasized their indispensable role as force multipliers and community protectors, noting that their presence in remote and conflict-prone areas strengthens the Army’s ability to deter threats, secure communities, and sustain peace.

Delos Santos received detailed briefings from detachment commanders, reviewed logistical and administrative needs, and evaluated overall operational readiness amid evolving security challenges across Eastern Sulu.

“Your dedication forms the backbone of our ground security here in Sulu. You are the first our people see and the first to confront any threat. Because of your commitment, our communities sleep peacefully at night,” he said.

He also underscored the brigade’s continued support for CAA units: “We will keep improving your defenses, living conditions, and operational capabilities. As long as you remain committed, the 1102nd Brigade will remain unwavering in its support.”

Delos Santos reminded the CAAs that professionalism, discipline, and unity of purpose are essential to sustaining Sulu’s improving peace and security.

“Every patrol you conduct, every observation you report, and every hour you stand guard contributes to our collective mission of protecting Sulu. Together, we will continue to advance the gains of peace,” he said.
