An arrest warrant has been issued for former Miss Universe co-owner Anne Jakrajutatip, Thai media report, marking the latest legal storm linked to the iconic pageant.

According to Khaosod English, the warrant was issued after Jakrajutatip missed the November 25 verdict hearing in her fraud case involving 30 million Thai baht (around P54.7 million) and failed to explain her absence.

The South Bangkok Criminal Court interpreted this as an attempt to evade justice and ordered her arrest. Her bail was forfeited, and the verdict hearing was rescheduled to December 26.

Jakrajutatip, along with JKN Global Group, faces charges of joint fraud for allegedly convincing Dr. Raweewat Maschamadol to invest in corporate bonds despite knowing the funds could not be repaid, reports The Nation Thailand.

Reports indicate Jakrajutatip has fled to Mexico. Political activist Sondhi Limthongkul alleged she moved abroad to avoid legal obligations, while rumors suggest she converted 6 billion baht ($186 million) into cryptocurrency.

JKN Global denied these claims, attributing delayed payments to cash flow issues and economic slowdown. Investigations are ongoing.

Jakrajutatip stepped down as Miss Universe CEO in June amid a board reorganization, and earlier this year, the Miss Universe Organization publicly distanced itself from her mounting legal issues.

Jakrajutatip, a groundbreaking transgender businesswoman, made history by acquiring the Miss Universe Organization in 2023.

Her legal troubles come amid broader controversies surrounding the MUO, raising fresh questions about the organization’s leadership and oversight.
