Isolated in hypocrisy

Efforts to create a strong front against corruption are again hobbled by the sheer hypocrisy of those who arrogate to themselves the divine mission of charting the nation’s future.

One of the leaders of the Trillion Peso March Movement, spearheaded by the civil socialites, declared to Nosy Tarsee that they are not joining the ongoing Iglesia ni Cristo anti-corruption rally since it will alter the yellow mob’s messaging and as an assurance that their advocacy “will not be hijacked by those who want to take advantage of the anger that we are getting against corruption.”

Thus, their selective stance, that the anger should reflect their chutzpah.

“We are wondering because we pushed for the transparency of the Vice President during confidential funds. But the same group of people who are now pushing for it in Luneta, the Iglesia Ni Cristo, blocked the impeachment. So if they really want transparency for good governance, they should encompass and embrace all forms of corruption,” according to the leader.

He explained that they share, however, the religious denomination’s stand “against regime change.” The group reasoned that they do not favor any person in the fight against corruption.

Instead of a strong front, the elitists are sowing distrust, which somehow aids those seeking to evade justice.

“We are consistent in that we really don’t want any form of corruption, whether it’s one million, one billion, one trillion, it’s the same thing. It’s stealing from the people,” according to the group, implying that the INC is supporting a particular faction.

The high-brow group continued that the INC supported the election of officials who were implicated in the flood control projects.

“They were endorsed by the Iglesia,” the 30 November march leader said. “So what do they have to say about their endorsements? After the last election, are they taking them back? Do they condemn the people they endorsed?”

The kind of hypocrisy the civil socialites are displaying is why they cannot mobilize even a tenth of the more than 650,000 who attended the INC show of force.
