The Cement Manufacturers’ Association of the Philippines (CeMAP) received the “Industry Partnership for Quality Assurance” Award during the Department of Trade and Industry–Bureau of Philippine Standards (DTI–BPS) and UL Standards and Engagement (ULSE) Stakeholders Recognition and Awarding Ceremony held last month at Marquis Events Place in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig.
The event, organized by DTI–BPS in partnership with ULSE, recognized organizations and partners involved in the implementation and development of standards and other BPS programs.
Members of CeMAP’s Product Standards Committee (PSC) accepted the award on behalf of the association. The committee oversees the review and updating of cement product standards; coordinates with government and private sector groups on consumer protection; participates in DTI–BPS technical working groups for the development of Philippine National Standards (PNS); and conducts nationwide market monitoring through the purchase and testing of cement brands for compliance.
Conformity to the PNS is required to ensure construction safety and structural integrity. While the PNS is adapted from ASTM benchmarks, it has been calibrated to reflect Philippine geological conditions and climate.
CeMAP, founded in 1957, represents integrated cement manufacturers in the country and serves as the industry association for promoting standards compliance and policy coordination.
