As Typhoon Uwan brought destruction across Luzon and the Visayas, the Miss Earth Organization joined calls for solidarity, compassion, and climate awareness. The Philippine-based international pageant, known for its environmental advocacy, issued a statement on November 9 offering prayers and support to affected families.
“Miss Earth is one with the Philippines in spirit, heart, and prayer in its most devastating hours amidst the continuing, relentless destructive strength of Typhoon Uwan which is causing destruction that is massively affecting families and the environment,” the organization wrote on its official social media pages.
The organization’s reigning queens, representing different nations but united in advocacy, also expressed messages of sympathy and encouragement.
Miss Earth 2025 Natalie Puškinová of the Czech Republic, currently based in Manila, urged everyone to stay safe. “I just want to share my prayers with all of you who are facing the typhoon,” she said. “Right now, I’m based in Manila, and the weather is getting crazy. We are all in this together—please, let’s protect nature and stay safe.”
From Iceland, Miss Earth Air 2025 Soldis Vala Ivarsdottir reminded affected communities to look out for one another. “I know the typhoon in the Philippines has been bringing fear and uncertainty,” she said. “But please, take care of yourselves, your families, and your neighbors. We are all in this together.”
Miss Earth Water 2025 Trinh My Anh of Vietnam expressed deep concern for both Filipinos and her fellow citizens dealing with storms and flooding. “Many families have lost their homes and livelihoods,” she said. “As someone who has witnessed the pain caused by natural disasters, I understand what you are going through. Let us stay strong and united, because we all share the same home—Mother Earth.”
The Philippines’ own Joy Barcoma, who represented the country during the Miss Earth 2025 coronation, has been actively sharing donation drives, emergency numbers, and updates from Bacoor, Cavite.
“The winds are extremely strong in Bacoor, and we’re not even at the center of the typhoon,” she wrote. “Please, everyone, stay alert and safe. Do not panic, but don’t be complacent either.”
Barcoma previously went viral for using her Miss Earth coronation Q&A moment to call for prayers for typhoon-affected families. Criticized by some and praised by others, she said she stands by her statement. “I have no regrets,” she said. “The Earth needs to hear what’s happening in the Philippines. These tragedies are consequences of climate change and environmental neglect.”
For Miss Earth, the message goes beyond pageantry: the fight for the environment is not theoretical—its impacts are lived daily by communities facing disaster.
