Batista bombs 41 points as Chery Tiggo outlasts Capital1

Yuni Robles-Batista did most of the heavy lifting in the fifth set to tow Chery Tiggo to a hard-earned, 27-25, 23-25, 25-12, 22-25, 15-13, victory over Capital1 in the second phase of the 2025 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) Reinforced Conference preliminary round on Tuesday at the FilOil EcoOil Centre in San Juan.

The Cuban winger scored eight of her conference-high 41 points in the deciding frame, including the game-winning kill for the EV Crossovers.

Chery Tiggo improved to a 2-4 win-loss record in Pool D to stay in the hunt for the last five quarterfinals seats.

Robles-Batista hammered all but one of her points off attacks in a 40-of-93 spiking clip as a starter in all sets.

“Well, for me, I guess, going point by point, slowly, with patience, step by step. And this was the result, and I'm so happy for that,” Robles-Batista said.

The EV Crossover reinforcement fired four straight points in a 7-0 run to turn a 6-8 deficit into a 13-8 lead.

The Solar Spikers answered with three points in a row to close in to within two points, but Robles-Batista halted Capital1’s run to push Chery Tiggo at match point.

She sealed the two-hour, 39-minute encounter with a crosscourt hit to amend from an attack error prior to the last play.

Ara Galang had 11 points, Shaya Adorador finished with seven markers while libero Jen Nierva had 24 digs and 17 excellent receptions for the EV Crossovers.

The Solar Spikers slipped to a 3-3 card.

Ukrainian Oleksandra Bytsenko led Capital1 with 34 points, Bella Belen got 22 markers and nine digs while Rachel Austero finished with 11.
