The Armed Forces of the Philippines’ Northern Luzon Command (NOLCOM) is on heightened alert ahead of the anticipated landfall of Super Typhoon Uwan.

NOLCOM has placed all its Joint Task Forces’ (JTF) disaster response units on standby and activated its Emergency Monitoring and Action Center (EMAC) effective November 5, 2025.

According to NOLCOM, this measure ensures prompt coordination and rapid response to any eventualities brought about by Typhoon Uwan within its Joint Area of Operations.

Internationally designated as Typhoon Fung-Wong, Uwan is expected to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility later this week and may intensify into a super typhoon before making landfall in Northern or Central Luzon.

NOLCOM Commander Lieutenant General Aristotle D. Gonzalez, PAF, said that all JTFs and their subordinate units have conducted a comprehensive inventory of Search, Rescue, and Retrieval (SRR) teams and prepositioned necessary assets in areas likely to be affected by the storm.

He added that this preparation aims to ensure readiness for humanitarian assistance and disaster response operations as soon as the situation demands.

“To safeguard vital military assets, NOLCOM has initiated the evacuation and relocation of critical air and naval assets away from high-risk zones to ensure their operational readiness for immediate deployment once weather conditions permit,” he said.

The command has also deployed liaison officers to the Office of Civil Defense and Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Coordinating Councils across Regions 1, 2, 3, and the Cordillera Administrative Region.

NOLCOM and its units are actively participating in pre-disaster risk assessment meetings with the Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Councils to synchronize efforts with national and local agencies.

Lt. Gen. Gonzalez reminded the public to remain vigilant and cooperate with authorities.

“The Northern Luzon Command stands ready to assist our communities in facing the challenges that Super Typhoon Uwan may bring. We call on our fellow Filipinos to take all precautionary measures, heed the warnings of local officials, and prioritize safety above all. Through preparedness and cooperation, we can weather this super typhoon together,” he said.

As NOLCOM continues to monitor the developing situation, it reiterates its commitment to protect lives, secure communities, and support the nation in times of crisis.
