From radio booths to center stages, Sam YG has seen it all and said it all. The ever-versatile host, known for his quick wit and commanding presence, celebrated two decades of his journey with the intimate No Entry bash in BGC, in partnership with Chivas Regal.

Long before the spotlight, Sam started behind a mic inside a DJ booth, building rhythm and timing one track at a time. From radio and TV to live events and now podcasting, he has mastered the art of reinvention, evolving with every audience and platform.

In an exclusive interview with DAILY TRIBUNE, Sam shared that for anyone who wants to venture into hosting, success does not happen overnight. Practice and learning, he said, are key to improving, along with building connections behind the scenes. “Learn the craft, I believe if you wanna be good at something, you will put an effort to learn it,” he said.

When asked about the most important lesson he has learned after two decades in the business, Sam shared, “Always put your 100 percent so you’ll never know who’s listening to you.” He recalled his time with the noontime show Eat Bulaga and the long-running radio program Boys Night Out, where showing up with full effort every single time became his signature as a host.

The night also marked the launch of his new digital home, his own website to his name, www.samyg.com, a space to chronicle his creative collaborations and future projects. For Sam, it’s more than just a portfolio; it’s an open invitation for new stories and shared experiences.

But this wasn’t just a toast to milestones. Between crafted cocktails and easy laughter among friends and collaborators, Sam peeled back the curtain on what it truly takes to stay in the game. He shared how hosting isn’t always about smooth runs and perfect cues; sometimes, the live mishaps are where real connection happens. “You either freeze or turn it into a talking opportunity,” he laughed, a lesson that has shaped his craft through the years.

As the evening wound down, guests caught a glimpse of what’s next: one final reunion with his Boys Night Out co-hosts in “Last Night Out,” also set to happen on 10 November.

After years of microphones, bright lights and countless “Good evenings,” Sam YG remains driven by the same passion that started it all -- to entertain and connect. He may have done it all, but as his fans know, he’s just getting warmed up.
