To ensure adequate supply, the Department of Health (DOH) said it will expedite vaccine procurement.
This is in a bid to reach the immunization target of 95 percent and will cover polio, measles, mumps, rubella, diphtheria, pertussis, tetanus, influenza, and hepatitis B.
Health Secretary Ted Herbosa said the agency would implement key steps to improve vaccination in the country.
These include using digital technology to ensure the smooth flow of vaccine supply, speeding up procurement, strengthening the cold chain, training health workers, and combating vaccine misinformation.
Herbosa also assured that PuroKalusugan and BUCAS Centers are also being strengthened to bring other essential health services closer to communities nationwide.
Launched in 2024, PuroKalusugan aims to bring healthcare services closer to the communities by bringing them into every purok. Primary care services offered by the program include immunization, oral health, maternal health, tuberculosis control program, nutrition, non-communicable disease prevention and control program, and environmental and sanitation services.
Meanwhile, BUCAS Centers are healthcare facilities established by the DOH that provide free or low-cost urgent care services. These centers offer immediate medical attention for non-life-threatening cases such as minor surgeries, laboratory tests, and outpatient consultations.
