The Bureau of Immigration (BI) reported a significant surge in outbound travelers during the recent Undas 2025 long weekend, with an average of over 60,000 passengers departing daily from international airports.
BI data released Wednesday showed that from 27 October to 2 November, the average daily passenger departure stood at 60,727.
The peak outbound activity was recorded on 30 October, with 67,492 departures. On All Saints’ Day, 1 November, 61,017 travelers left the country, while 51,060 arrivals were recorded the same day.
Consistent inbound activity was observed during the period, with an average of 48,688 arrivals daily. The peak number of inbound travelers was recorded on All Souls’ Day, 2 November at 55,303.
Immigration commissioner Joel Viado anticipates an “even greater increase in passenger traffic” as the Christmas season approaches.
The BI reported that airport operations remained “smooth and coordinated” during the observance of Undas, with immigration personnel on “full alert” to manage the heavy passenger flow.
In other developments, the BI announced that new e-gates will soon be installed to further streamline airport processing.
The agency has begun the procurement of additional units, and the New NAIA Infra Corp. is also expected to acquire more to accommodate the growing passenger volume, the BI said.
