The Philippine National Police (PNP) has so far reported a peaceful and orderly observance of Undas 2025, as millions of Filipinos flocked to cemeteries, memorial parks, and columbaria across the country to honor their departed loved ones.
PNP chief P/Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said that as of Saturday, 1 November, no major incidents or threats have been recorded in any of the country’s major areas of convergence, including transportation hubs and cemeteries.
“The security measures for Undas 2025 do not end with planning and deployment. We have to make sure the security plan is properly implemented and that necessary adjustments are made depending on the situation on the ground,” he told reporters.
The PNP has deployed more than 50,000 police officers nationwide since 30 October—timed with the start of the mass exodus to the provinces—to ensure a safe and orderly observance of All Saints’ and All Souls’ Days.
A total of 20,829 policemen are currently stationed in 4,901 cemeteries, memorial parks, and columbaria, supported by barangay security officers, soldiers, Coast Guard personnel, and volunteers, bringing the total manpower to 66,925.
To ensure road safety, 4,352 police officers are manning 1,478 Motorists Assistance Centers nationwide, working alongside 7,000 personnel from other government agencies, including the Armed Forces of the Philippines, the Bureau of Fire Protection, and the Philippine Coast Guard—for a total of 11,655 personnel deployed at these sites.
As large numbers of travelers continue to head to their provinces—and soon return to Metro Manila and other urban centers—Nartatez said police presence remains strong at major transportation hubs.
A total of 144 policemen are assigned to airports, 636 to 363 seaports, and 1,455 to various bus terminals across the country, many of whom are manning Police Assistance Desks to help travelers and ensure security.
Meanwhile, Nartatez emphasized that maintaining peace and order during Undas is a shared responsibility.
He urged the public to remain vigilant and follow safety guidelines, including avoiding the bringing of prohibited items such as deadly weapons and alcoholic beverages into cemeteries.
“Our goal is to make Undas 2025 peaceful and orderly. With the dedication of our personnel, the support of other government agencies, and the cooperation of the public, we are on the right track to achieving that goal,” he said.
Aside from cemetery security, the PNP has also deployed additional personnel to patrol residential areas and business districts during the long weekend, while continuing regular police operations against criminal elements.
As millions of Filipinos continue to pay tribute to their loved ones, the PNP assured the public that it will maintain full alert status and continue monitoring developments nationwide through its regional offices and the PNP National Headquarters at Camp Crame in Quezon City.
