The National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) has mobilized its regional offices nationwide to enhance communication support and emergency coordination as millions of travelers head to cemeteries and hometowns.
The NTC said Saturday that it directed its field offices to assist the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, civic action groups, and radio operators in ensuring smooth public assistance operations.
The order includes the issuance of temporary permits and licenses to enhance on-ground communication networks, which are essential for safety and emergency response.
Regional directors were also instructed to work closely with local radio, television, and cable operators to ensure the timely relay of traffic updates, weather advisories, and safety reminders throughout the long weekend.
“The NTC’s regional teams are on alert to help maintain communication lines and support nationwide coordination, especially in areas where large crowds and heavy traffic are expected,” the agency said in a statement.
Every year, the Undas period sees a surge in travelers and motorists that strains communication networks and emergency services, prompting the NTC to double down on support systems to minimize disruptions and enhance information flow.
