The Land Transportation Office (LTO) impounded a luxury vehicle on Saturday after its driver failed to present documents proving that the sports sedan was registered.
The Porsche Panamera was personally apprehended by LTO Chief Assistant Secretary Markus Lacanilao while he was conducting routine monitoring at CALAX Rotonda in Santa Rosa, Laguna, as part of the Plan Biyaheng Ayos: Undas 2025 campaign.
According to the LTO, the driver did not present any necessary documents, such as a sales invoice or registration papers, to prove ownership or legality of use.
The vehicle was swiftly impounded and brought to the LTO Central Office for further investigation. According to Asec. Lacanilao, the incident should serve as a lesson and warning to motorists that the law applies equally to everyone, regardless of social status or type of vehicle.
On Friday, in a separate case in LTO CALABARZON, two sports car drivers were also apprehended for operating unregistered vehicles.
As a consequence, the drivers of a Ford Mustang 2.3 EL EC Coupe and a Ford Mustang 5.0L V8 had their licenses confiscated for violating Section 2.A of Joint Administrative Order No. 2014-01.
According to Asec. Lacanilao, this is part of the agency’s commitment, together with the Department of Transportation (DOTr), to the President’s directive to intensify traffic law enforcement and ensure the safety of motorists, especially during holidays.
“No one is above the law. No matter what their vehicle is, everyone should follow the rules for the safety of the public,” Asec. Lacanilao said.
