GENERAL Santos City — Swimmer Sophia Rose Garra doesn’t just plan to win gold medals in the 2025 Batang Pinoy which gets off the ground Saturday at the Antonio Acharon Sports Complex.
Garra, who was last year’s top swimmer in Palawan, wants to win five gold medals in record-breaking fashion in the 12 to 13 years old category.
Previously, Garra took top honors in the 200-meter individual medley (IM), 100m freestyle, 200m backstroke and 100-m backstroke.
“I want to be the Most Outstanding Swimmer this year while winning all five gold medals and breaking all the records,” said Garra, who will be representing Malabon City in the biggest grassroots competition established by the Philippine Sports Commission.
“It will be my last stint in the 12-13 division so I am at my peak right now.”
For this year’s Batang Pinoy, Garra will compete in the 50m backstroke, 100m backstroke, 200m backstroke, 200m freestyle and 200m IM.
Garra’s coach Jenny Guerrero said she is confident her ward will be able to get the job done.
