Authorities arrested a departing female passenger at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 on Saturday for a cyberlibel case, the Philippine National Police-Aviation Security Group (PNP-AVSEGROUP) reported Sunday.
The Filipino woman, identified as an overseas Filipino worker, was intercepted around 10:58 a.m. on 18 October at the Central Security Screening Checkpoint before boarding Gulf Air flight GF155 bound for Bahrain.
The arrest stemmed from a warrant issued on 27 May 2024, by the Regional Trial Court Branch 47 in Ormoc City, Leyte.
The warrant cited an alleged violation of Section 4(c)4 of Republic Act 10175, or the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012. Court records set her bail at P48,000.
Authorities said that the warrant was served by personnel from the PNP-AVSEGROUP and the Quezon City District Field Unit-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (QCDFU-CIDG).
The woman is now under the custody of the QCDFU-CIDG pending further legal proceedings.
