Veteran Angelo Que turned back the clock with a vintage performance, firing a bogey-free five-under-par 67 in the second round of the Asian Development Tour Players Championship at Luisita Golf and Country Club in Tarlac on Friday.
The 46-year-old Que, a three-time Asian Tour champion, showcased his trademark composure and precision, carding five birdies to climb into contention — just three shots off leader James Leow of Singapore, who dazzled with a 64 for a 10-under total.
The Filipino shotmaker, who is using the ADT event as a tune-up for next week’s International Series Philippines at Sta. Elena Golf Club, is now tied for third at 5-under alongside Laos’ Thammasack Bouahom and India’s Karandeep Kochhar.
England’s Ben Jones sits in solo second on 7-under following a 65, while Thailand’s Pattaraphol Khanthacha trails slightly behind after a 66.
Among other Filipinos in the field, Carl Jano Corpus — also set to compete in the International Series Philippines — turned in a steady 69 to sit in a tie for 15th at 3-under.
Meanwhile, Erwin Arcillas, Rolando Marabe Jr., and amateur Edison Tabalin all carded solid rounds to share 32nd place at 1-under as the local contingent continues its push heading into the weekend.
With Que leading the home charge and confidence building ahead of next week’s high-profile event, Filipino fans have every reason to keep their eyes on Luisita this weekend.
