The Bureau of Immigration (BI) has deported two Japanese nationals wanted in their home country for robbery and fraud-related crimes.
In a statement Friday, the fugitives were identified as 24-year-old Hoshino Takuyo and 62-year-old Kunio Ahaira. They were arrested in separate operations by the BI Fugitive Search Unit earlier this year.
Hoshino, allegedly part of the “Luffy” syndicate, was arrested in Las Piñas on 22 April after Japanese authorities identified him as a wanted criminal for stealing ATM cards and deceiving elderly victims by posing as a police officer.
Ahaira, meanwhile, was apprehended in Pasay City on 3 June for his alleged involvement in a robbery and assault case in Tokyo that occurred about three decades ago.
“The group allegedly stole the victim’s wallet containing about 700,000 yen in cash. The assault caused multiple injuries requiring several weeks of medical treatment,” the BI said.
The two were deported on Thursday morning, 16 October, aboard a Japan Airlines flight. Their names have been added to the BI blacklist, barring them from reentering the Philippines.
