Chezka Centeno admitted she had to go through personal challenges before capturing her second WPA Women’s World 10-Ball Championship in Bali, Indonesia over the weekend.
Centeno, 26, posted on social media that she had to battle self-doubt and anxiety during the tournament before winning it all by beating Rubilen Amit, 4-1, 2-4, 4-2, 3-4, 4-2 (3-2), in an all-Filipino final.
Both Amit (2009 and 2013) and Centeno (2023 and 2025) are the only female cue artists to win the world 10-Ball title twice.
“For the past four months, I’ve been competing non-stop, reaching three finals and falling short in two. I kept telling myself it was okay… but deep inside, the fire started to fade,” Centeno said.
“I began doubting myself and feeling anxious. I lost confidence, my mind would go blank during matches, and I would lose early. It was one of the toughest stretches of my career, a quiet battle within myself.”
“After losing my second match, I even thought about giving up. But God showed Himself to me and reminded me to keep going and trust Him.”
Centeno had to go through the losers' bracket, conceding to Chen Chia Hua of Chinese Taipei, 4-3, 2-4, 4-1, in her second match.
