
Pole vaulter Ernest John Obiena won’t be making the trip to Poland as he is not in the list for the Silesia leg of the Diamond League on Saturday at the Silesian Stadium.
Obiena, 29, isn’t in the start list for the Silesia leg as it fields a strong 10-man field in one of the biggest athletics tournaments in the world.
World champion Armand Duplantis of Sweden is expected to dominate the Silesia leg after setting the world record at 6.29 meters at the 2025 István Gyulai Memorial meet in Budapest last Wednesday.
Paris Olympics bronze medalist Emmanouil Karalis will also compete after settling for a silver medal in Budapest with 6.02m.
Completing the cast in Poland are Ben Broeders of Germany, Sondre Guttormsen of Norway, Sam Kendricks of the United States, Kurtis Marschall of Australia, Ersu Sasma of Turkey, Menno Vloon of the Netherlands, London Olympics gold medalist Renaud Lavillenie of France and home bet Piotr Lisek.
