Sour grapes from here to eternity
The yellow mob is bristling over the recent Supreme Court decision throwing out the articles of impeachment against Vice President Sara Duterte, expressing its disappointment over one of the associate justices who, according to them, was the last flame of judicial independence.
They believe the magistrate was different since he was the last appointee of the late President Noynoy Aquino, a former UP College of Law dean, an environmental advocate, and a man known for principled dissent.
“For years, he stood out in the high tribunal as the bold voice willing to oppose the majority, especially during the Duterte administration,” a lawyer close to the mob said.
The mob described the position taken by the SC member as questionable, contradictory, and convenient.
The SC ruling, according to the mobsters, does not clearly define what constitutes the first impeachment attempt. “No dates. No docket numbers. No debate. Just a blanket declaration — and suddenly, the Senate (impeachment court) is ordered to stand down. Trial canceled. Accountability halted.”
According to the keepers of hypocrisy, “the decision feels rushed. Vague. Possibly politically engineered.”
For many who are admirers, the justice’s transformation is nothing short of devastating, according to them.
It seems that it would take more than just a final decision from the highest court of the land and the final interpreter of the Constitution to appease the sore losers.
