The Philippine Navy successfully rescued 15 crew members from a distressed fishing vessel off the coast of Zambales over the weekend.
The fishing vessel, FB Moises, had suffered engine failure while fishing. The Philippine Fleet and Naval Installation Command deployed two naval assets, the Multi-Purpose Attack Craft BA492 and the tugboat YT207, to locate and tow the immobilized vessel.
Despite adverse weather conditions, the Navy completed the mission without incident. On 3 August, the FB Moises was safely towed to the Calapandayan Fish Port in Subic, Zambales, with the help of MPAC BA488.
Navy spokesperson Captain John Percy Alcos said all 15 crew members, including the captain, were confirmed safe and received immediate medical and logistical assistance upon arrival.
“This successful mission reflects the Philippine Navy’s commitment to protecting the lives and livelihoods of Filipino fishermen,” Alcos said.
“It is also a testament to our operational readiness and strong coordination with local maritime stakeholders.”
