Manila logs 30 leptospirosis, 110 dengue cases

The local government of Manila reported over the weekend 30 cases of leptospirosis and 110 cases of dengue following weeks of storms and flooding in many parts of the city.

Based on data from the Manila Health Department, the cases were recorded from 26 July to Friday, 1 August.

Of the 30 leptospirosis cases, four were confirmed dead, while 16 remained confined in local hospitals: Gat Andres Bonifacio Memorial Medical Center, Justice Abad Santos General Hospital, Ospital ng Maynila Medical Center and Sta. Ana Hospital.

There were also a total of 110 dengue cases, with one confirmed death.

Twenty dengue patients are currently confined in hospitals — nine at Gat Andres Bonifacio Memorial Medical Center, one at Ospital ng Tondo, one at Justice Abad Santos General Hospital, six at Ospital ng Maynila Medical Center and three at Sta. Ana Hospital.

Meanwhile, the local government of Manila reminded residents to remain cautious and to always maintain cleanliness in their surroundings to help prevent dengue and leptospirosis.
