Tarlac City, Tarlac — The Department of Health Central Luzon Center for Health Development (DOH CLCHD) has kicked off its School-Based Immunization (SBI) program for 2025 at Burot Integrated School on 1 August.
According to DOH Central Luzon, the initiative at Burot Integrated School aims to introduce and highlight the importance of the SBI program to students and their parents.
After the orientation, students were given vaccines inside the school.
The program is a collaboration among the Department of Education (DepEd), local government units, and the DOH.
The SBI is a long-standing program of the Department of Health aimed at bringing essential health services closer to the people while protecting children from various vaccine-preventable diseases.
DOH CLCHD Regional Director Dr. Corazon Flores emphasized the importance of disease prevention through vaccination.
“Kaya sa bawat magulang na nagbibigay pahintulot, at sa bawat guro na nagsisilbing tulay para rito, kami po sa DOH ay lubos ang pasasalamat, dahil mas lumalawak po ang pagprotekta natin sa kalusugan ng mga bata,” Flores said.
Under the SBI program, vaccines for Measles, Rubella, and Tetanus-Diphtheria are given to students from Grades 1 to 7, while the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine is administered to girls in Grade 4.
