When it rains, it pours — not of misfortunes but aid from good Samaritans. For the storm-affected villages of Planas, Pio, Calantas and Camias in Porac, Pampanga, Prime Waste Solutions (PWS) Pampanga (PWSP) and Prime Infra Foundation (PIF) donated bags of rice, canned goods, instant noodles and coffee to 1,200 residents on 23 July.
“We prepared for our fellow villagers. Prime Waste Solutions is here to help them rise up,” said PWSP general manager Jake Lachica.
“This initiative forms part of our commitment to help strengthen the resilience of our host communities. It is important to show our support during these challenging times,” said PIF programs and operations head Bernadette Tan.
PWSP, operator of the only large-scale materials recovery facility in Luzon, and PIF, the corporation social responsibility arm of Prime Infra, mobilized 40 volunteers to repack goods for distribution. The volunteers included WASH Group members from the Katutubo Village, an Aeta community, and youth leaders from Barangay Planas.
Tan said PWSP and PIF are set to roll out additional support for the communities, with livelihood and sustainability initiatives already in the pipeline, alongside other outreach programs.
Barangay Planas leaders welcomed the effort as a timely and heartfelt gesture of solidarity.
“We are thankful to Prime Waste Solutions for voluntarily giving help to the community. We know it is the season of storm, many were affected, many are in need. We accept and wholeheartedly thank the aid given by them to our barangay-mate,” Planas village captain Alfer Nacu said.
Sangguniang Kabataan chairperson Joyce Cunanan of Barangay Planas also expressed gratitude for the relief goods given to locals affected by the flooding caused by typhoon “Crising” and hoped that more residents would be assisted.
The relief operation is part of PWS and PIF’s broader community development and resilience-building programs across host communities — efforts that reflect their long-term commitment to social responsibility and partnership-driven progress.
