ONIC head coach Paul “Yeb” Miranda has refused to push the panic button after his team was sent crashing to the lower bracket by Team Liquid PH in the Group Stage of the Mid Season Cup 2025 yesterday in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Yeb, who is also the vice president of esports for ONIC, is in Riyadh both as a coach and an executive. ONIC PH was the first to get sent to the lower bracket when it suffered a 1-2 upset against Aurora Turkey last Friday, and ONIC Indonesia followed suit with the same fate last night.
“For me, honestly, I am not concerned because we are still in the tournament. If they did not make it to the Playoffs, that is when I will be concerned,” Yeb said in the post-match press conference.
Panicked or not, the fact remains that both ONIC PH and ONIC Indonesia are one defeat away from being eliminated from the tournament, where sixteen teams from around the world are fighting for the lion’s share of the $3,000,000 prize pool.
Yeb offered no excuses for ONIC’s defeat and merely stated that the reigning MPL PH champion Team Liquid PH simply played better than them.
“I can’t say anything; it’s just that TLPH did a good job,” he quipped.
