Glenn Khobuntin might have missed out on the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Philippine Cup crown, but he still achieved a personal record by playing all 75 games in the season.
Khobuntin said it was all hard work as he didn’t miss a single game in the 49th PBA season.
The 33-year-old forward surpassed PBA greats like Johnny Abarrientos, Jojo Lastimosa, Ato Agustin, Mike Mustre and two-time Most Valuable Player Danny Ildefonso, who all played 74 games in a season.
“It’s all about hard work. You know, as a player, you know your drill, you know yourself,” Khobuntin said after averaging 6.33 points and five rebounds in the finals.
“If you need to stay at the gym, stay at the gym. Don’t be lazy.”
While he didn’t finish the season with a grand slam after TNT bowed to San Miguel in the all-Filipino, Khobuntin still finished with two PBA titles, the Governors’ Cup and the Commissioner’s Cup.
Khobuntin admitted losing to the Beermen is nothing to be ashamed of, considering they were on their last legs heading into the championship round.
The Tropang 5G played without Jayson Castro, who is recovering from a patellar tendon tear, Poy Erram (anterior cruciate ligament) and Rey Nambatac (groin injury).
“Yeah, all the losses are painful. But this one, we can let it go because we’ve been through a lot,” Khobuntin said.
