The Department of Public Works and Highways Cordillera Administrative Region (DPWH-CAR) reported multiple road blockages affecting major access routes to and from Baguio as of Friday evening, 25 July.
Kennon Road remains impassable due to hazards brought by continuous rain. Marcos Highway is open but only one lane is passable in Sitio Caucalan and Poblacion, Tuba, Benguet, due to mudflow and a road slip, respectively.
Baguio-Bauang Road, also known as Naguilian Road or Quirino Highway, is fully passable. However, other routes such as Asin-Nangalisan-San Pascual Road and Benguet-Nueva Vizcaya Road are only open on a one-lane basis in select areas due to soil collapse and mudflow.
The Baguio-Bontoc Road also has multiple one-lane passable sections across Buguias and Atok, Benguet, following soil collapse, rockfalls, and fallen trees.
In the provincial road network, Benguet’s Gov. Bado Dangwa National Road in Datakan, Kapangan is not passable due to road slips and scoured pavement. The DPWH has placed warning signs and advised motorists to use Datakan-Labueg or Aso-Datakan roads as alternate routes.
Meanwhile, the Lubuagan-Batong Buhay Road in Pasil, Kalinga, is also closed due to soil collapse.
