In a rare moment, Yen Santos mustered more than enough guts to address rumors of her past relationship.
Without mentioning Paolo Contis, Santos seemingly felt a great sigh of relief that she was able to wiggle out from her last relationship.Adressing the question: “What happened to your last relationship?” Santos unabashedly said: “Napakalaking blessing na natapos na ‘yun. Malaking blessing na nagising na ako du’n sa nightmare na ‘yun and I walked away kasi hindi talaga worth it. It wasn’t worth wasting my time, my energy, sa someone na kino-control ka [and] mina-manipulate ka(It was a big blessing that it ended. It’s a big blessing that I woke up from that nightmare and walk away because it’s not worth it. It wasn’t worth wasting my time, my energy to someone who’s controlling and manipulating you).”
For Santos, being in that kind of romantic scenario is a “kind of life (that) drains you” and “you lose yourself in the process.”
“So hindi mo gugustuhin talaga ‘yung ganu’ng klaseng buhay (So, you wouldn’t like that kind of life) and minsan the most powerful thing you can do is walk away and set yourself free,” she said.
Santos said it’s important to choose oneself when thrown in that scenario and be more discerning.
“Piliin mo ‘yung sarili mo talaga. Sa una kasi, hindi naman ‘yan magpapakilala eh. (You choose yourself. At first, he will not introduce himself). The person I met in the beginning? That wasn’t really him. The one I saw in the end? ‘Yun talaga siya (That’s really him),” she said.
Santos believe that initially, a person will not show off his real self and that he will do everything just to get you. Then, it will be an all together a different scenario in the end.
“Siyempre ako din sa part ko, nahulog ako du’n e. Naniwala ako sa lahat ng mga pinakita nu’ng una kahit gaano ko jinu-justify dati na, ‘Okay naman kami. Masaya naman kami,’ pero you know deep down, may mga taong nasaktan du’n sa maling choices mo and it was wrong (Of course, on my part, I fell for it. I believed all those that were shown to me at first even how much I justify before, ‘We’re okay. We’re happy,’ but you know deep down, there are people who were hurt by your wrong choices and it was wrong),” she said.
