The Asian Open Figure Skating Trophy 2025 is set to dazzle Manila from 1 to 5 August at the SM Skating Rink in the SM Mall of Asia, bringing together over 170 top athletes from 19 countries in a major international competition that officially opens the 2026 Winter Olympic season.
Sanctioned by the International Skating Union (ISU) and the Asian Skating Union (ASU), the event showcases elite figure skating talent from powerhouse nations such as South Korea, China, and Kazakhstan, as well as up-and-coming athletes from Southeast Asia, including the Philippines, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Hong Kong, and Taiwan.
Organized by the Philippine Skating Union (PHSU) with support from the ISU Development Commission, the Philippine Sports Commission, and Milo, the tournament is a key event for Filipino skaters, serving as a national qualifier for both the 2026 Olympic Qualifier Pool and the 2025 Southeast Asian Games.
“This is a rare chance to see the Philippines’ top figure skating prospects compete on home ice — and the stakes are high,” said Nikki Cheng, President of the Philippine Skating Union.
Beyond competition, the event also aims to foster goodwill. “This tournament showcases the extraordinary talent and dedication of our region’s figure skaters, promoting unity and camaraderie among nations,” said Joseph Silva, Senior Assistant Vice President of SM Skating.
Tickets are priced at P150, on a first-come, first-served basis.
Spectators can expect five days of graceful performances, technical mastery, and Olympic-level competition, as the region’s best take to the ice in what promises to be a high-caliber sporting spectacle.
