Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has confirmed that the studio will recast its iconic X-Men characters for upcoming films, marking a new chapter for the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
According to a Variety report, several original X-Men actors from the 2000s and 2010s are expected to reprise their roles in Avengers: Doomsday, slated for release in 2026. However, starting with Avengers: Secret Wars in 2027, the X-Men will be recast, and new mutant characters will also be introduced to the franchise.
Feige also revealed that other iconic Marvel roles, including Tony Stark (Iron Man) and Steve Rogers (Captain America), will likely be recast in the future. These characters were famously portrayed by Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans, respectively.
"I think it's hard for anybody to do that when an actor has done such a great role," Feige said.
The move signals Marvel’s intent to refresh its cinematic universe and introduce a new generation of heroes as the franchise enters its next phase.
