More money for Manny
Manny Pacquiao didn’t just restore his legacy after forging a draw against Mario Barrios in their World Boxing Council welterweight title match last Sunday (Manila time) at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
It also prompted the cash register to spring back to life.
Multiple reports have it that Pacquiao’s ageless performance had netted him an estimated earning $12 million, or roughly P685 million, an amount that could even skyrocket to around $17 million to $18 million, or P1 billion, once his share in the pay-per-view earnings come in.
Pacquiao’s biggest career earning was $130 million, which he scooped during his highly-publicized encounter with Floyd Mayweather Jr. in 2015.
In his previous statement, Pacquiao asserted that climbing the ring has nothing to do with money.
“I love fighting,” said Pacquiao, who has a career earnings of $775 million.
“I just missed training, the media, and promoting the fight. I missed being cheered on by fans.”
On the other hand, Barrios stand to earn only $500,000 to $1 million despite being the reigning champion. Although he also stands to receive a solid share in the television revenue, his estimated total earning of $2.5 million is still no match to what the 46-year-old Filipino legend will take home.
