The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Cordillera has advised motorists and residents to take necessary precautions as several roads in different parts of the region have been declared impassable due to heavy rains.
According to the DPWH, Kennon Road in Tuba, Benguet was deemed not passable as of 9:27 AM due to recurring soil collapse. Motorists are advised to use alternate routes such as Marcos Highway and Asin-Nangalisan-San Pascual-La Union Boundary Road.
The Gov. Bado Dangwa National Road at Datakan, Kapangan, Benguet is also closed due to road slip and scoured pavement caused by continuous rainfall. DPWH personnel have installed warning and traffic signs and are conducting ongoing monitoring of affected infrastructure.
In Abra Province, the Abra-Kalinga Road at Duldulao, Malibcong and the Abra-Ilocos Norte Road in Nagaparan, Danglas have been rendered impassable due to soil collapse. Clearing operations on both roads have been hampered by adverse weather and unstable slope conditions.
In Apayao, the Claveria-Calanasan-Kabugao Road located at Barangays Eva and Namaltugan in Calanasan is closed due to soil collapse. A portion of the road in Barangay Ninoy, Calanasan is also closed due to a road cut. Meanwhile, the Apayao-Ilocos Norte Road at Barangay Namaltugan, Calanasan is likewise impassable due to soil collapse.
The Apayao (Calanasan)–Ilocos Norte Road at Tanglagan, Calanasan is closed due to a high water level at the site of the ongoing Tanglagan Bridge Construction Project at the Tanglagan River.
DPWH crews and equipment have been deployed to the affected areas for ongoing response and assessment.
