Protesters urge CA to overturn 'Talaingod 13' conviction
Progressive groups rallied outside the Court of Appeals in Manila on Tuesday, 15 July 2025, urging the reversal of the conviction of the “Talaingod 13”—a group that includes 11 Lumad teachers, former Bayan Muna Rep. Satur Ocampo, and ACT Teachers Rep. France Castro—exactly one year after a Tagum City court found them guilty. The case involves child trafficking charges over the alleged transport of 29 Lumad children during a humanitarian mission in Talaingod, Davao del Norte, in November 2018.
