
President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. on Thursday extended his condolences to the United States following the devastating floods in Texas that have left at least 110 people dead and over 170 others missing.
In a statement , Marcos expressed the Philippines' solidarity with the American people, particularly those affected by the disaster.
"On behalf of the Filipino people, I extend our deepest sympathies to President [Donald] Trump and the American people as they face the devastating floods in Texas," Marcos said.
He added. "The Philippines knows the challenges of rebuilding after disaster and grieves with the families who have lost loved ones.”
The President hopes that those affected will overcome the difficult situation.
“We have faith that the strength and resilience of the people of Texas, together with President Trump’s leadership, will guide them as they recover,” he said.
Rescue and recovery operations continued across Texas Hill Country on Wednesday, five days after flash floods swept through the region. Texas authorities have reported that more than 170 individuals remain unaccounted for.
Meanwhile, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said no Filipinos have been reported among the casualties or affected by the disaster.
Foreign Affairs Undersecretary Eduardo de Vega said that the Filipino community in Texas remains safe, citing reports from the Philippine Consulate in Houston.
