Maserati Philippines has officially stepped into the electric age. At a private media event inside its showroom in San Juan, Modena Motorsports Inc., the brand’s official importer and dealer, unveiled the first-ever Maserati EVs for the country: the GranCabrio Folgore and Grecale Folgore.

These new cars mark a shift in Maserati’s future, they on electricity, without letting go of the brand’s Italian flair and racing soul.

“This isn’t just the unveiling of new models,” said Sam Verzosa, President of Modena Motorsports Inc., “this is the ignition of a new mindset—where electrification is not a trend, but the future, and the future is now here. And Maserati leads that vision, combining innovation, sustainability, and unmistakable Italian soul.”

Folgore means “lightning” in Italian. And true enough, the new Maserati electric lineup brings serious thunder.

The GranCabrio Folgore is the world’s first fully electric luxury convertible. It runs on an 800V system with three electric motors, pumping out a massive 761 hp and 1,350 Nm of torque. It goes from zero to 100 km/h in 2.8 seconds and hits a top speed of 290 km/h, all while offering open-top serenity for four. Its soft top folds away in just 14 seconds, even when the car is in motion.

The Grecale Folgore, on the other hand, is Maserati’s first electric SUV. With a 105 kWh battery and two motors, it delivers 410 kW of power and 820 Nm of torque. This midsize SUV offers luxury, performance, and everyday usability. Inside, it features materials like ECONYL® (made from recycled nylon) and a smart, fully connected interface.

Both models come dressed in Maserati’s electric-exclusive design cues, with coppery “Rame Folgore” paint and aerodynamic tweaks to help them cut through the air.

This launch is not a one-off. Maserati is planning a full nationwide push for its electric cars. That includes the limited-edition GranTurismo Folgore 110° Anniversario, plus test drives and road shows in major cities across the country.

“From Manila to the provinces, we’re bringing Folgore to our clients,” Verzosa added. “Because if they can’t come to the cars, we’ll bring the cars to them.”

The evening wrapped up with a ceremonial toast led by Maserati Southeast Asia Pacific’s Wallace Wong, Modena Motorsports’ Sam Verzosa, and GM Mody Llamas.
