GENERAL SANTOS CITY — A new chapter begins for Mindanao State University (MSU) as President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. appoints Atty. Paisalin P. Tago as the university’s new president, following the passing of Atty. Basari Mapupuno on 27 May.
The appointment was confirmed through a transmittal letter dated 27 June, addressed to Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Chairperson Dr. Shirley Agrupis.
Atty. Tago currently serves as Minister of Transportation and Communications in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) and is a sitting member of the Bangsamoro Parliament. He previously served as Deputy Speaker.
A lawyer and certified public accountant, Tago is widely respected in both legal and governance circles. Known affectionately as “Popoy,” he is also a cousin of Budget Secretary Amenah Pangandaman.
He will serve a six-year term at the helm of the MSU System, a vital institution for education and development in Mindanao.
