A female celebrity has been linked to the disappearance of cockfighting enthusiasts, based on a claim by one of the accused in the high-profile case.
The allegation came from a suspect known by the alias “Totoy,” who is facing charges in connection with the series of disappearances. Totoy said the actress is part of the so-called “alpha members” or the inner circle of individuals allegedly involved in the crime.
In an exclusive report on GMA’s 24 Oras on Thursday, Totoy revealed that the unnamed showbiz personality will be included in an affidavit he plans to submit to authorities.
Totoy claimed the actress was regularly present during key meetings and suggested she held a central role within the organization.
Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla had said the government is building a complex case against a powerful syndicate believed to be behind the disappearance of more than 30 sabungeros between 2021 and 2022, warning that public officials and police officers may be complicit.
Based on the sworn statement of a key witness, investigators have identified the alleged mastermind, described as a “well-known personality” with vast resources and alleged influence over the justice system. The case has revived scrutiny of e-sabong operations and their links to criminal activity, prompting Senate investigations and the suspension of online cockfighting under former President Rodrigo Duterte.
