
A street dweller was killed while another was wounded after being shot by motorcycle-riding assailants on Saturday afternoon in Barangay 659, Ermita, Manila.
Police identified the fatality only as alias “Tata,” estimated to be between 40 and 50 years old, wearing a red Jag T-shirt and black pants. The injured victim was identified as Ronnie Allan Quintos, 53, a barker residing at MacArthur Bridge, Barangay 659-A, Ermita, Manila. Quintos is currently undergoing treatment at Mother and Child Hospital in Binondo.
Tragically, Quintos’ 11-year-old daughter, Ronalyn, witnessed the shooting and was able to positively identify the suspects.
Authorities named the suspects as Rodel Atencio y Tejada, alias “Pipoy,” and MJ Tuazon, alias “Danny,” who remain at large and are now the subjects of a police manhunt.
According to initial investigations and CCTV footage reviewed by the Manila Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, the suspects were seen riding a PCX motorcycle, approaching from Arroceros Extension. Moments later, one of the men got off the motorcycle and shot both victims, who were seen using their cellphones along the roadside. After the attack, the suspects fled on the motorcycle toward Quezon Bridge.
