San Juan City was formally recognized by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) for its strong commitment to the government’s anti-drug campaign.
PDEA-NCR regional director Emerson Rosales presented the certificate of recognition to San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora during the Regional Peace and Order Council-National Capital Region’s 2nd Full Council Meeting held at Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig City over the weekend. Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Jonvic Remulla was also present at the event.
San Juan achieved 100 percent drug-cleared status in all its barangays as early as 2023, meeting the stricter standards required for citywide recognition.
Mayor Zamora thanked the oversight committee, the San Juan City Police, barangay officials, the City Anti-Drug Abuse Council, city department heads and San Juan residents for their collective effort in achieving the milestone.
He stressed, however, that the city’s anti-drug campaign doesn’t stop with the award.
“Our fight against illegal drugs doesn’t end here,” Zamora said. “We will continue our efforts through sustained enforcement, community-based rehabilitation and preventive education programs.”
San Juan not only leads Metro Manila in drug-clearing efforts but also holds the distinction of having the lowest crime volume in the region.
