Alex Eala started her Eastbourne Open campaign on a high note after a 6-1, 6-3 win over Zeynep Sönmez of Turkey in the first qualifying round at the Devonshire Park Lawn Tennis Club in the United Kingdom on Saturday (Manila time).
Eala needed one hour and 12 minutes to win he match and make it to the next round.
The Eastbourne Open is one of the last competitions before the Wimbledon Championships which begins on 30 June.
Eala will need to beat Hailey Baptiste of the United States tomorrow at 5 p.m. (Manila time) to make it to the main draw.
