The University of the Philippines (UP) remains the country's top higher education institution, according to the latest Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings.
UP ranked 362nd out of 1,501 universities worldwide, a slight drop from its previous ranking of 336th in last year’s edition.
Ateneo de Manila University ranked second among Philippine institutions, placing 511th globally. It climbed five spots from last year’s 516th, making it the only Filipino university to improve its overall standing this year.
De La Salle University landed in the 651–660 range, while the University of Santo Tomas placed within the 851–900 bracket.
Adamson University and Mapúa University made their debut in the global rankings. Adamson entered the 1001–1200 tier, while Mapúa was listed in the 1401+ band.
Globally, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) retained the top spot for the 14th consecutive year.
The 2025 QS World University Rankings, released on 19 June, assess institutions based on academic reputation, employer reputation, faculty-to-student ratio, research citations per faculty, and internationalization metrics.
