Japan has reinforced its commitment to Philippine defense capability with the completion of its first defense equipment transfer — an air surveillance radar system now being prepared for full operation in the southern part of the country.
Ambassador Endo Kazuya visited the site on 17 June 2025, where he was briefed by the Philippine Air Force on the ongoing tests and preparations for the radar's operational deployment.
The installation, the second of its kind in the Philippines, aims to significantly enhance the country’s airspace monitoring capabilities. According to both sides, the development is expected to further solidify the long-standing defense cooperation between the two nations.
