A 56-year-old man accused of sexually assaulting a 23-year-old woman with a disability has been arrested in Antipolo City, police reported Wednesday.
The suspect, identified by the aliases “Gobito” and “Don-Don,” was apprehended inside his home in Barangay San Luis through a warrant of arrest for rape, issued with no bail recommended.
The case was filed by the 61-year-old mother of the victim, who said her daughter was sexually abused by the suspect on 8 December 2024. According to her account, the young woman had just returned from church when she encountered the suspect, who allegedly forced her into his place, made her ingest a sleeping pill, and then assaulted her.
The mother said the assault stopped only after her daughter managed to resist. The suspect reportedly threatened to kill the victim if she reported the crime.
A few days later, the woman disclosed the incident to her mother, who immediately brought her to a hospital for a medico-legal examination before filing a formal complaint.
The suspect is now in the custody of the Philippine National Police's Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) in Rizal province, while the court that issued the warrant has been notified of his arrest.
