A total of 37,740 cops were deployed to secure both public and private schools as part of its “Oplan Balik-Eskwela” (Back to School) program beginning Monday.
The Philippine National Police (PNP) said that it has established 5,079 Police Assistance Desks near school premises, staffed by 10,759 officers to assist students, parents, and school personnel.
PNP chief Gen. Nicolas Torre III ordered the deployment of 10,687 officers to utilize mobile patrols, and 16,366 police personnel will be assigned to foot patrols to ensure increased visibility in high-density areas and designated critical zones.
“The safety of our students, teachers, and school staff remains our utmost priority. We want to ensure that our children return to school without fear or harm. Our police officers will be in every possible area to provide protection, guidance, and support,” Torre told reporters.
Torre assured the public of the PNP’s full preparedness and close coordination with the Department of Education (DepEd), local government units, and other partner agencies.
He also urged the public to stay vigilant and promptly report any suspicious activities or safety concerns to the nearest police station or through the PNP’s 24/7 hotlines.
Several PNP personnel actively participated in the annual voluntary initiative "Brigada Eskwela," helping to clean, repair, and repaint classrooms and school premises nationwide.
