Mayor Abby Binay has signed an ordinance that will provide an additional P1,000 in cash incentives to registered senior citizens in Makati, effective July.

The new City Ordinance No. 2025-104 increases the total cash gift for active members of the Blu Card Program and senior citizens holding a Makatizen Card. The incentives —distributed in two equal installments — are now P4,000 for ages 60-69, P5,000 for ages 70-79, P6,000 for ages 80-89, P11,000 for ages 90-99 and P12,000 for ages 100 and above.

Centenarians celebrating their 100th birthday will continue to receive a P100,000 cash gift and a plaque of appreciation from the city government.

The ordinance amends City Ordinance No. 2016-A-043, which was passed shortly after Binay took office. The new measure adds P1,000 to the incentive for each age bracket.

“We are happy to inform our beloved senior Makatizens that they will be receiving a bigger midyear cash gift this July, and again in December for their yearend cash gift,” Binay said. “We hope they could use the money for essential needs, especially with the rising cost of goods.”

To qualify for the increased incentives for those aged 90 and above, senior citizens must have been a Blu Card holder for at least five years, as certified by the Makati Social Welfare Department. Otherwise, they will receive P6,000, the same amount as those aged 80-89.

Meantime, to be eligible for the cash incentive, senior citizens must be Makati residents and registered voters for at least two years, and possess a valid Blu Card or Makatizen Card. Transferees, including former EMBO residents who now live in Makati, must wait two years after reestablishing residency to qualify.
