The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) disclosed that Chinese scammers are hiding their scamming operations by renting guarded and gated subdivisions.
This after five Chinese nationals running a scam hub inside a subdivision in Angeles City, Pampanga were arrested in an operation, the NBI said.
Report showed the aliens who were busy scamming their victims were caught red-handed by elements of NBI-Criminal Intelligence Division (NBI-CRID) inside a rented house.
Noel Bocaling, assistant director for Intelligence Service of NBI, said the scammers are hiding inside high-end subdivisions to evade authorities who are hunting them after President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. banned the operations of Philippine Overseas Gaming Operators (POGO).
Bocaling disclosed the suspects are renting the houses to establish scam hubs from P50,000 they would offer the owner P80,000 just to hide the undocumented persons and they will not disclose their actual operation.
The agents discovered laptops and desktop computers being used to chat with their victims mostly Chinese nationals.
Agents discovered their illegal operations as they are hunting down a Chinese national who was tagged as “Big Boss” which the group are protecting.
The said Big Boss was involved in the killing of a fellow Chinese and a Filipino.
The target person was said to be the muscle behind the operation of scamming but he is not the one financing it as he is only the conduit of the real financier.
The group according to the NBI is armed and dangerous.
Coordination is being conducted by the NBI to the Chinese embassy for their deportation though they will be charged for violating the Anti-Financial Account Scamming Act.
