Spotted: MIKEE NAVAL
I’m an adventure loving human being with a ceramic studio based in Sorsogon. I love to surf and walk my dog Hugo.
Best place to eat:
I’m a fan of Avhic’s Special Calamares, a tent stand selling the best fried calamares found in Rompeolas in Sorsogon City — enjoy a serving or two at sunset! And vetted by my best friends who have come to visit me multiple times, the best Bicol Express and Laing can be found in Siama Hotel in Sorsogon City.
Best place to hang out:
I take all my visiting friends to Rompeolas in Sorsogon City at sunset. It's vibrant with people of all ages eating street food, walking around, hanging out, and even doing zumba. The community of Sorsogon is alive here. The views of the surrounding mountains and Sorsogon bay on a clear day are majestic. It's a nice way to acclimate people into the pace and vibe of probinsya life.
Best advice on traveling to Sorsogon:
Travel with an open heart and be ready to live more slowly. Bring a light rain jacket and sandals you can hike in and enjoy all the waterfalls, hot and cold springs, hikes, beaches, surfing, and adventures immersed in nature. It’s a place where the element of water is felt deeply, and where the people will inspire you to live simply.
Best place to shop:
Any central palengke of any municipality in Sorsogon is exciting; the local palengke is where the soul of the place lies. Almost all palengkes here will have someone selling handicrafts sourced from surrounding towns. If you enjoy discovering unique objects, materials, and ingredients from Sorsogon, the palengke is the key. The souvenir shop at Bulusan Volcano Natural Park is also a great place to find consolidated and curated goods and crafts from around Sorsogon.
