Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Secretary Bienvenido Laguesma was among those resignations rejected by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Tuesday, 3 June.
One Tuesday, Marcos rejected the courtesy resignation of over a dozen Cabinet officials, according to Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin.
In a statement sent to reporters, Laguesma said he is truly "overwhelmed and deeply humbled" by the President's decision to retain his service as DOLE chief.
"The continuing trust and confidence of the President in my capabilities and competence to lead the DOLE will greatly inspire and motivate me to do my utmost best in the service of the Filipino people, especially for the workers and employers," Laguesma continued.
The Labor chief vowed that the DOLE will continue to be a "responsible, responsive, accessible, action-driven, and results-oriented" institution.
On 22 May, Marcos ordered the courtesy resignation of all Cabinet secretaries, citing a major revamp in his administration.
