The Cebu Police Provincial Office (CPPO) reported a notable 30 percent decrease in focus crimes during the first half of 2025.
Incidents dropped from 549 in the same period last year to 385 this year. Focus crimes include murder, homicide, physical injury, rape, robbery, theft, and motorcycle and car theft — crimes considered most threatening to public safety.
The CPPO credited the decline to a comprehensive crime prevention strategy, which involved increased patrol visibility, sustained manhunt operations, community policing initiatives, and enhanced intelligence gathering.
PCOL Jovito Atanacio, acting provincial director of CPPO, praised the dedication of law enforcement officers.
“We are sending a clear message to lawbreakers: there is no safe haven for crime in Cebu Province,” Atanacio said.
