The Japan Coast Guard (JCG) conducted a week-long capacity building program for the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) from 26 to 30 May 2025, focusing on towing operation procedures.

The initiative is part of Japan’s Official Development Assistance (ODA) to the Philippines and was led by a Mobile Cooperation Team (MCT) dispatched by the JCG.

During the training, PCG personnel — especially those assigned to 44-meter class patrol vessels provided by Japan — received technical guidance on safe towing operations. The sessions included updates on towing manuals and best practices for command and supervision at sea.

The JCG reaffirmed its commitment to continued cooperation with the PCG to strengthen maritime safety and operational readiness.
